This may include establishing presumptive good cause for missed appeals deadlines; imposing a moratorium on hearings dismissals; and conducting business and hearings over the telephone.

Medicare has information about getting care in a natural disaster or emergency, including access to essential treatments, replacing prescriptions or medical equipment, and special enrollment periods. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has announced resources and flexibilities to assist with the Public Health Emergency in the States of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
The Emergency Prescription Assistance Program helps people who do not have health insurance get the prescription drugs, vaccinations, medical supplies, and equipment that they need.

Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP): Helps uninsured people after disasters to be sure they still have the medicines and medical equipment they normally use to stay healthy.
- The program pays for prescription medications, specific medical supplies, vaccines, and certain medical equipment.
- The program provides a 30-day supply of covered drugs and medical supplies that can be renewed every 30 days for as long as EPAP is active.

Volunteers: Anyone wishing to volunteer for supply and donation receiving and distribution sites, support for emergency shelters, etc. should report to the Burnsville Town Center at 6 S Main Street at 9:15am or 1pm daily. Partners Aligned Toward Health is organizing “people volunteers” only, NOT the heavy machinery volunteers.
Businesses, organizations, or individuals offering heavy equipment or operators should complete the Heavy Equipment Volunteer form. This is posted on the Yancey County Government and Yancey County Emergency Management Facebook pages; and featured at the top of the Partners Aligned Toward Health Facebook page, or use the bit.ly link bit.ly/yanceymachinevolunteers.

Main point of supply distribution: Yancey County Emergency Management reports the new main point of supply distribution is the former Fred’s storefront in the Burnsville Plaza, 677 W E U.S. Hwy 19E Bypass, Burnsville, NC 28714.
A potable water truck is set up on N. Main Street., Burnsville.
Free water is available on Avery Street, across from Reconciliation House, to fill tanks.
The Living Water Treatment System (LWTS) by Water Mission is set up at Ray Court Park.
- The system can make up to 10,000 gallons of clean water every day. It pulls water from the creek, removes dirt and germs with specialized filtration, followed by chlorine disinfection to make sure the water is safe for people to drink. Bring your own containers to fill.
- A similar system has been placed at the former Bald Creek Elementary School, near West Yancey Fire Department.

Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP): Helps uninsured people after disasters to be sure they still have the medicines and medical equipment they normally use to stay healthy.
- The program pays for prescription medications, specific medical supplies, vaccines, and certain medical equipment.
- The program provides a 30-day supply of covered drugs and medical supplies that can be renewed every 30 days for as long as EPAP is active.
